There’s nothing like celebrating successful Gulls who leave the Nest and make their mark on the world. But what about alums who choose to stay? As Endicott evolves, more and more Gulls are bringing their skills, passion, and creativity to jobs at the College. Here, we chat with Molly Hyman ’22 and Kevin Morency ’21 M’22, two recent hires who are leveraging their Endicott education to drive the College forward.
What three adjectives would you use to describe Endicott?
MH: Resilient, inspiring, passionate.
KM: Homey, bustling, scenic.
How does it feel to move from alumni to employee?
MH: It feels like it’s where I’m supposed to be. Through my involvement as a student, grew to learn how passionate I am not only about higher ed but Endicott as a whole. I’m grateful to have this opportunity and use my knowledge to help the school grow.
KM: It honestly feels like a natural progression. I’ve grown used to spending a lot of time here over the last five years between classes, lacrosse, and working during summer and winter breaks. Now, I just have some different responsibilities and a greater opportunity to make an impact at Endicott.
You were a hospitality management graduate, Molly. What’s your favorite restaurant?
MH: The Plaza in New York City. One of the most beautiful and historic hotels in my opinion.
You were an English major, Kevin. Favorite book?
KM: I’m going to cheat and put down two answers. Barbarian Days: A Surfing Life by William Finnegan and The Poppy War series from R.F. Kuang.
What’s your proudest accomplishment so far?
MH: Being trusted by the student body as their voice on campus during my senior year. Advocating for them in different capacities about a variety of topics was and always will be a special time and accomplishment in my life.
If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who is it?
MH: Robin Williams—I think he’s someone with incredible depth that would offer valuable insight into the world we currently live in.
Your favorite spot on campus?
MH: Peace Rock for the sunrise. I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
KM: My favorite spot, or spots, you could say, are along the trails out behind Standish Hall and Hempstead Stadium. They’re great for finding a little peace, and for scratching that nature itch every once in a while. There’s also a hilltop somewhere back there where the trees part and, when the sky is clear enough, you can see the Boston skyline in the distance.
What’s something no one knows about you?
KM: When I was a student-athlete, instead of listening to pump-up music before games, I’d listen to the Tarzan soundtrack by Phil Collins. I got anxious and jumpy before games so I needed something to settle the nerves and get my mind right, and Phil’s Tarzan soundtrack always did the trick.
Last Netflix binge?
MH: Always has been and always will be New Girl.
What excites you about the future of Endicott?
MH: The most exciting part about the future of Endicott is that there’s so much potential in ways we may not even be aware of yet. This potential—mixed with the passionate faculty, staff, and students—is the key to success here and keeps us all feeling excited.
KM: The chance for growth with a purpose. The impact that Endicott makes on our students, the Beverly community, and the world at large is about to get much larger and it will be an exciting thing to witness.
