The September ribbon-cutting for the Center for Belonging & Inclusion not only opened a new chapter for the former Interfaith Chapel space but ushered in an important theme for the academic year based on what Director for Belonging & Spiritual Life Gail Cantor calls “our shared sixth sense”—belonging.

“Belonging, creating an inclusive culture, seems to me to be the most important challenge of our times—here at Endicott and, more importantly, in the world,” said Cantor.

At Endicott, students can find their niche with an array of academic programs, clubs, volunteer opportunities, and creative endeavors, like singing and theater. Living Learning Communities also provide space to live alongside other like-minded students.

“Our job is to prepare our students to be successful in the world and, right now, including the great diversity of people, opinions, and ways of operating takes a lot—communication, patience, compassion, courage, and more,” continued Cantor. “Hopefully, we can use the Center for Belonging & Inclusion to create an environment, programs, and opportunities for our students to grow in these areas.”
