FUEL is a unique venture accelerator program which pairs students who want to start a business with peer mentors, business coaches from a variety of fields and professional mentors as they work to conceive, build and launch their idea.听 The year-long process culminates with some student businesses being selected to pitch their idea to the FUEL Angel Investors who may decide to place an investment in the business.

鈥淭he goal of FUEL and the Angle Center for Entrepreneurial Studies is to bring together students from science, technology, business and design and expose them to the process of constructing a robust business model,鈥 says Dean Michael Paige of Endicott鈥檚 School of Business, 鈥渁nd as they go through that process, they learn to focus on the critical building blocks to putting together a new venture.听听 That practical experience, coupled with their studies here, will help accelerate their careers upon graduation.鈥

This year鈥檚 panel is comprised of three notable area business people well-versed in what makes a successful start-up.听

Paul Troisi is an experienced veteran of the technology and telecom space, having served in varying capacities over the past 25 years.听 In 2009, Paul spread his wings into entrepreneurship and founded Troy Mobility, a solution provider for the growing remote and mobile-connected generation. Most recently, Troy Mobility was nominated and approved by CIO Review magazine as one of the Top 20 BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Solution Providers.

Ric Upton has been involved in the development and growth of technology-based businesses for more than 30 years. As founder of Gloucester Innovation, a Cape Ann-based firm, he is focused on promoting the growth of businesses involved in data analytics, mobility, remote sensing and autonomy, leveraging the entrepreneurial, financial and academic resources of the Greater Boston area.听 Ric also brings with him a wealth of experience in the venture capital world, having held several senior executive positions with nation-wide firms over the years.

Dawn Watson has worked in high technology for over twenty years.听 Her current position as Partner Services Development Manager at Cisco Systems allows her to leverage her expertise in direct and channel sales as she works to enable Cisco鈥檚 partners in the public sector.听 This work builds upon her past experiences leading sales teams at Verizon as well as her efforts leading new business development at Nuance Communications, Synchronoss as well as other start-ups.听 Dawn also works as a mentor in Babson College鈥檚 Business Coach Program and serves on Topsfield鈥檚 Technology Committee.
