香港六合彩开奖结果 is pleased to announce plans to commemorate the 14th Anniversary of 9/11 by mobilizing students, faculty, staff, and community members to promote random acts of kindness, community service initiatives, and an opportunity for personal reflection. This special Tribute is part of the nationwide 14th Anniversary of 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance, called 9/11 Day. Those interested in participating can get more information and sign up at .
9/11 Day is the largest annual day of charitable engagement in the United States. Each year more than 40 million Americans, and many others in 150 countries observe September 11 by performing good deeds that help others. The goal of 9/11 Day is to keep alive the spirit of unity and compassion that arose in the immediate aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, providing a positive, helpful way for people to annually remember and pay tribute to the 9/11 victims, and honor those that rose in service in response to the attacks.
On Tuesday, September 11th from 8:46am (the time that the North Tower was hit by the first plane) to 8:46pm, Endicott’s LIGHThouse (Learning to Inspire Guide Help and Teach) Leadership Society, Office of Community Service and Office of Student Activities is sponsoring 12 Hours of LIGHT. “It was one of the darkest days in our nation’s history, so we choose to remember with light. And by light we mean random acts of kindness, service and remembrance.” says Lindsey Shrayer, Assistant Director of the Counseling Center and Advisor for the LIGHThouse Leadership Society.
Events will include handing out flowers to commuters, reading books to children at the Beverly Public Library and in area elementary schools, purchasing coffee for strangers, dropping off baked goods to area first responders, and holding a candlelight vigil from 8:30pm-8:46pm on the Beverly/Salem bridge to end the days events.
This year, Endicott will once again hold a remembrance ceremony at 6:00pm on the Softball field where a Proclamation will be read, along with reflections of the events that occurred on 9/11 and where we are now as a community, city and country. This ceremony will serve as the opening ceremony for what is hoped to be our first annual “We Remember” Home Run Derby. Former MLB player and current radio personality, Lou Merloni, will be on the mound for those willing to donate $1.00 per pitch with proceeds benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project. Local First Responders and military are invited to come with families and take part in the event.
The day will end with a group coming to the Beverly/Salem bridge for a brief candlelight ceremony at 8:30pm, with us blowing out our candles at 8:46pm to close the 12 Hours of LIGHT.
