September 26, 2016Original versions of Fairy Tale are known to be grittier than many versions seen today. In their upcoming performance at 香港六合彩开奖结果, the internationally renowned Skylark Vocal Ensemble will explore the deep themes, visceral emotions and messages in Hans Christian Andersen and The Brothers Grimm through exquisite choral music and narration: Once Upon a Time. Rose Performance Hall in the Walter J. Manninen Center for the Arts on Friday, September 30th, 2016 at 7:30 PM. Admission is $10 General Admission, Free to EC ID Holders.

In this 鈥渙ut of the box鈥 performance, Skylark will recount several fairy tales in impressionistic musical form, aided by narrative interludes and an artful program book. Skylark will perform vocal music of many styles and genres, from ancient chant to contemporary compositions. The concert will feature works by many composers, including Johannes Brahms, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Francis Poulenc, Leonard Bernstein, and Morten Lauridsen. Also featuring professional narration, student artwork, and a student performance by the Endicott Singers, audiences will experience a multimedia trip to fairyland.

Skylark is a professional chamber choir of vocal soloists and music educators from across the United States. Skylark鈥檚 critically-acclaimed recent album, Crossing Over, debuted at #4 on the Billboard Traditional Classical Chart and was the #1 New Release on Amazon Classical. They will be in residence with the Endicott Singers chorus in rehearsal, working with the group on vocal and choral technique, and sharing their experiences in the professional world of vocal music.

The School of Visual and Performing Arts sponsors the Jazz Band, Dance Ensemble, Endicott Singers, the student a cappella group ECHO, Rock Band, and the Chamber Ensemble. The Walter J. Manninen Center for the Arts, now celebrating its sixth year, supports a variety of studies and performance venues with facilities that include: a 250-seat recital hall with professional quality acoustics; a 100-seat black box theatre for drama, dance, technical theatre workshops and performances; a museum quality art gallery for visiting art exhibits, gallery talks and community shows; a student art gallery; separate painting, photography, printmaking, ceramics, and woodshop studios; Macintosh computer labs for graphic design and visual communications; music, theater and dance practice and rehearsal rooms; a shooting studio for photography; and lounges with facilities for public receptions.
