Today, November 26, 2019, President Steven R. DiSalvo, Ph.D. took time before the Thanksgiving break to take a personalized construction update tour of the Samuel C. Wax Academic Center Phase II project with Director of Facilities, Rick Gagnon.

At this point in time, Gagnon says, “The steel portion is about 75 percent complete. It should be fully completed around the end of December 2019. The building envelope-exterior framing and sheathing will begin shortly.”

Among the steel is one piece that many Gulls have a personal investment in. During the Presidential Inauguration celebrations, our community signed a beam that will be an integral and visible part of the structure. It was a way of making our Gulls a part of history—a physical representation of the campus and community growth.

Gagnon says, “The exposed beam with signatures is a great way of having the students be part of the process and put their stamp on the building.”

Everyone is excited for the completion of Phase II. The site is situated in a prominent location and the beautiful new structure will be a welcome addition to the layout of our already stunning campus. Gagnon says, “The multipurpose seminar rooms at the rear of the lecture hall are a unique feature as is the revamped/expanded cafe that will be going in.”Wax Academic Center Phase II beam signingDr. DiSalvo signing the beam on his Inauguration day.

Endicott has invested nearly $300 million over the last 30 years to achieve the academic, residential, and student-centric goals of the College.

President DiSalvo says, “The growth and improvements to facilities on this campus have been impressive over the years, and I am thrilled to continue this trend moving forward. State-of-the-art buildings and resources are critical in providing our students with the best possible environment to become successful.”

The estimated time for completion of this project is December 2020. Happy holidays to all of us!
