Dr. Traci Freeman Appointed Inaugural Dean, Endicott Center for Teaching & Learning
Starting August 15, 2021, Dr. Traci Freeman
begins her tenure on the Endicott academic
leadership team as ECTL Dean.
Dr. Freeman brings to Endicott more than 18 years of experience in higher education supporting both student success and teaching excellence, most recently serving as the Executive Director of the Colket Center for Academic Excellence at Colorado College, where she has led efforts focused on student support, advising, and faculty development since 2012. Her experience also includes administrative positions in the Writing Center at the University of Texas-Austin (UTA), and at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs (UCCS). Given Dr. Freeman’s extensive teaching experience including courses in English, literature, rhetoric and writing, and education, in addition to courses in first year experience programs at UTA, UCCS, and University of California Berkeley, she will also serve as Associate Professor of English at Endicott.
“I am thrilled to be joining a community that is invested in a culture of teaching and learning,” says Dr. Freeman. “I look forward to working with students, faculty, and staff from across campus as we develop the new ECTL.”
Dr. Freeman received her doctorate in English with an emphasis in Women, Gender, and Literature from the UTA, and her B.A. in English from King’s College, University of London. Her extensive contributions in the field focus on the scholarship of teaching and learning, including writing pedagogy and writing program administration, and block plan and intensive teaching and learning. She has served on the board for the National Resource Center for the First-Year Experience and Students in Transition, and consulted with a number of colleges and universities in the U.S. and abroad on a variety of topics related to teaching and learning.
Dr. Freeman will be relocating to Massachusetts in August with her husband, two children, a COVID puppy, and two geriatric cats. She enjoys running and hiking, listening to live music, and spending time with her family.
